We are pleased to announce that Takanori Inomata, Principal Investigator of the Inomata Challenging Lab, received the Academic Award at the 9th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Ocular Allergology and delivered an award lecture.
In his lecture, Dr. Inomata presented our research on allergic conjunctivitis using the smartphone application AllerSearch®, with a particular focus on the use of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and real-world data in ocular allergy research.
Allergic conjunctivitis is a highly prevalent condition, yet the severity, timing, and impact of symptoms on daily life vary considerably among individuals. By leveraging data collected in real-world settings, our research aims to capture symptoms and environmental factors that may be difficult to assess through conventional clinical visits alone, and ultimately to contribute to more personalized care.
The lecture highlighted our previous work using AllerSearch® for large-scale data collection and epidemiological studies, as well as the application of AI for symptom assessment and prediction. Dr. Inomata also discussed the potential of digital health technologies to shape the future of ocular allergy care.
These achievements have been made possible through the contributions of many collaborators, laboratory members, and participants who have supported and taken part in our research.
Building on this recognition, Dr. Inomata and the Inomata Challenging Lab will continue to advance research integrating AI, digital technologies, and real-world data to deepen our understanding of ocular allergy and contribute to improving patients’ quality of life.
